SZA Drops New Single and Reveals New Album Title

Hip-Hop/Rap

Yesterday, TDE’s leading female, SZA, dropped a new single off of her upcoming album and revealed its title CTRL. This was a beautiful and victorious indication for fans that the album is indeed on the way when it once seemed not so.

Back in October SZA’s since deleted tweet stated “I actually quit,” then mentioning TDE’s President Terrence “Punch” Henderson, “@iamstillpunch can release my album if he ever feels like it.” SZA, along with fans like myself, was clearly not happy about the album’s delay.

But anyway, here we are and it seems like all of that drama is in the past. Her new single “Drew Barrymore” is a personal letter to a love-interest. SZA has this unique ability to channel several different emotional reactions from the listener within one track, and this release does just that. The tone is somber while simultaneously cheerful. I don’t know whether to cry or smile.

But in the end, this release has me cheesing from cheek-to-cheek as the album is evidently on the way! Cop her new single “Drew Barrymore” below and stay tuned for more information regarding CTRL.
