What better way to start off the Spring semester than hitting up a show? Lucky for you, inspiring synth-pop artist, Austra, Ela Minus, and Philly-based musician, Moor Mother, are all headed to Union Transfer this Friday, January 27th.
Last week, Austra released her most recent album entitled Future Politics. The LP touches on some heavy subject matter about the struggles of women in the music industry, her crippling depression when she could not find her niche in a foreign place, Mexico’s violent past, and many more political issues. Austra strives to motivate listeners through the album’s fervent message to make a change in the world and aspire for bigger and better things. The boundaries are not only pushed with her lyrics, but the infectious synthpop beats with hints of folk are creative and catchy. This show will be a dance party all night long that you will not want to miss out on.
Just as Austra, local opener Moor Mother is an activist who uses her medium to get a message across. Through her anger filled punk music, she tells stories of the injustices happening all around us. Moor Mother is not an act you will forget, so make sure you get there early to listen to what she has to say.
