Chance and Jeremih’s Newest Tape Drops Down the Chimney Early

Hip-Hop/Rap

Chance The Rapper and Jeremih‘s surprise mixtape, Merry Christmas Lil Mama, backed by festive bells, smooth base-lines, and melodic keys, came down the chimney a bit early when it dropped Thursday morning. The tape is dedicated to the City of Chicago, the hometown of the two stars.

The mixtape has features from Hannibal Buress on “All The Way” and the always poetic Noname on “The Tragedy”. Chance’s recent reconnection with his faith shines yet again as his bars are sprinkled with Christmas references and nostalgic memories of his childhood in Chicago. Jeremih shows his holiday spirit with his nod to Michael Jackson on “Stranger On The Table” as well his line in “Joy” where he seemingly spikes his eggnog with Hennessy.

This 9-track mixtape beautifully displays the duo’s’ fundamental soulful sound and their ability to perfectly blend singing and rapping. Its tracks, while simple and relaxing, will surely keep you grooving through the New Year.
