Nothing makes us happier than seeing a cross-genre collaboration, especially when it’s the worlds of hip-hop and electronic colliding. In the past few months, we’ve heard links between Rick Ross and Skrillex, Little Dragon and De La Soul, and most recently, Daft Punk and The Weeknd.
On Monday, Mura Masa instagrammed this picture of A$AP Rocky, which sparked a ton of hype throughout the music community.
We originally assumed a new track would be released today, but now we have received the real product. A$AP Rocky hops on Mura Masa’s beat of “Lovesick Fuck” and gives the song a revitalized energy. The UK producer had this to say about his collab with the Harlem rapper on “Love $ick”:
Rocky was actually in London for a couple of days and I wanted to make him feel like I was taking the collaboration seriously, so I booked us in to Abbey Road, Studio 2, and we met up there for a couple of hours and he did his thing. It was a hell of a good time hanging out in such a legendary space with him, very surreal. The track originally was about sex and how I was feeling after a particularly empty encounter with a friend told through a kind of twisted-pop, calypso, hip hop dance track. Rocky kind of ran with that and took it to this lovelorn, exotic place. He totally injected his energy into it.
