Philly’s very own is hitting up the Fillmore this Thursday. Dr.Dog, a folky indie psychedelic rock band, is about to come to their home state and rock out. These guys have been around for over a decade now, but they are still managing to put out dope albums like their most recent The Psychedelic Swamp.
The record they just released isn’t actually a new album at all. Psychedelic Swamp was an album they self recorded and self released in early 2001. They just now have revisited it and gave it a 2016 update that we can all agree f*cking rocks. These guys have created their signature sound of electronic beats mixed with strong guitar riffs that is something all their own. They draw influences from the likes of The Beatles and The Beach Boys. It was the early 2000s that Dr.Dog built the strong local fanbase in Philly that continue to follow to this day. It is the excitement of this fanbase to have their band back and the excitement of the band to be back in their city that makes this show one not to miss.
Although we can all agree seeing The Districts open for Dr.Dog, would have been a dope show like they have been for the other legs of the tour, Hop Along is not gonna disappoint us in the least bit. These Philly natives have created a unique sound of grunge, folk, alternative, indie, and punk. The 4 piece band have 2 full length albums under their belt, and their most recent is Painted Shut, a 10 track album released last May. This new album includes some of our favorites like “The Knock” and “The Waitress”. We are excited to see the energy these guys bring to their hometown and can’t wait to see the energy they produce.
Listen to both bands below.
