Dan Auerbach’s The Arcs Are Coming to Town with a Spicy Surprise

As if it wasn’t enough for The Black Keys’s Dan Auerbach to gift Philadelphia with an appearance from his side project, The Arcs, we just got another holiday surprise. Joining The Arcs on stage at the Fillmore Philadelphia this Wednesday will be the first ALL female Mariachi band, Flor de Toloache.

We could speak all day about the accolades Auerbach has achieved during his time with The Black Keys and doing solo projects, but we are most impressed with his work with The Arcs this year. In their debut album, this psychedelic rock band has successfully revived a genre of music that helped define the late 60’s counter-culture generation. The Arcs would have been an ideal fit to a slot at Miami Pop Music Festival or even Woodstock. Their message remains consistent with a blues theme, but makes you close your eyes and takes you to your happy place.

What really makes this project special is that you can truly tell that Auerbach loves this music. The Black Keys have built up a reputation as one of the biggest arena-rock bands in the world. With that reputation comes the necessity to produce music that fits on that stage, but with The Arcs, Auerbach has total control over reinventing a new sound that he enjoys. If you ever had the urge to see Dan Auerbach perform, or if you’re looking to see one of 2015’s best bands, look no further than the Fillmore this Wednesday night.

And if that wasn’t enough to convince you, Flor De Toloache will fire up your blood with their new wave Mariachi sounds. Diversity runs deep in this all female band with members coming from Mexico, Cuba, and many more countries. A modern take on a classic Mexican genre has brought these ladies to the forefront of 2015’s unique artists. Even the academy has taken notice with Flor De Toloache being nominated for a Latin Grammy this year. If you don’t believe us, just take a look yourself.

Mariachi bands have traditionally been made up of all men, but now these women are providing the spicy touch the genre has always needed. This band has serious potential to bring some incredible music to the public’s ear, and now you can see their show in person. Get your tickets to see The Arcs and Flor De Toloache melt away all your winter blues here.
