Last night marked a momentous occasion for everyone’s favorite UK brother duo. Disclosure took their recently released Caracal LP to the Saturday Night Live stage, and they brought along a few guests for the ride.
Lorde and Sam Smith accompanied Howard and Guy as they performed their respective hits of “Magnets” and “Omen” off the record. Disclosure’s spot on SNL finds them just finishing up their North American tour, on which they played a two night stand in Philadelphia that we covered back in early October.
The reason we find this moment so significant in Disclosure’s already illustrious career pertains to their special guests. Although the live EDM show innovators have widely acclaimed success, the people that joined them on stage last night have achieved next level stardom. Specifically, Sam Smith who has sold millions of records and sells out arena tours all over the world.
But many people forget where Sam Smith gained his initial popularity. “Latch”, a collaboration between the incredibly talented vocalist and producers of Settle, was the first hit Sam Smith saw real prosperity for his chops. Now as his fame soared, he has not forgotten his roots of the people he calls his brothers.
Smith joining Disclosure on stage for their nationally televised presentation of their new project fills us up with all types of feelings, with the biggest one being bliss. Enjoy these stunning renditions of “Omen” and “Magnets” below.
