Change It Up Wednesdays With A Guest Mix From Finnish Producers Kahikko & Jespr Episode 11 Features More Great Tracks From Sherm and a Banging Guest Mix of House, Electro, and Progressive Tracks

EDM, Featured

After an incredible week for Change It Up, where we achieved over 6000 plays in less than a week, we are back and not stopping (even a little surgery couldn’t stop the show) with the 11th episode in the series. I’ve got all new remixes and covers of classic songs including a cover of “I Kissed a Girl” and “Rhythm is a Dancer”. I also bring you remixes of Jeremiah’s “Birthday Sex” and Oliver Helden’s “Shades of Grey”. This week’s Chill Pill is a half cover half remix of a classic Kings of Leon song, “Use Somebody”. It features an incredible vocal performance by Lisa Vinscat and is remixed and produced by Monkey Joker & Pancheta. There are a lot more tracks as well but you will just have to let the mix do the talking for itself.

This week’s exclusive guest mix comes all the way from Finland. Kahikko & Jespr have been playing in clubs around Finland for the last 10 years and there isn’t an end in sight. They have played just about every major club in Finland but are currently focusing on their productions and remixes right now. Their Soundcloud following is just over 2K and their remixes have consistently seen over tens of thousands of plays.

They just released a remix of the Kygo’s “Stole The Show” track featuring Parson James and it is currently sitting at over 34k plays which is also featured in their mix. Their other popular remix, in which they close out their guest mix with, is a remix of the Mr. Probz track, “Nothing Really Matters”. That remix is absolutely incredible and was one of the reasons I brought these guys in for a guest mix. It currently sits on Soundcloud with a play count over 40K. If you scroll through Kahikko’s Soundcloud you will see many other remixes of recognizable songs and I highly suggest you give them a listen!

We asked Kahikko and Jespr some questions about themselves and here is what they had to say…

Q. Tell us where you guys are from and how that has helped influence your styles musically?

K&J – We both live in a city called Rauma which is located in western part of Finland. Electronic music has not been as popular as it is now when we were growing up so it gave us much space to develop our own taste.

Q. How long have you guys been producing/DJing?

K&J – I’ve started to focus on producing around 3 years ago. Together we have been producing a little over a year now. We have both been Djing over 5 years.

Q. What are youre non-electronic music favorite genres?

K&J – We pretty much listen to anything, no matter the genre but if i had to pick one id say it would be rock/metal.

Q. What countries have you played in and which is your favorite to play at?

K&J – We have mainly played in Finland so its hard to pick a country. It doesent really matter what country/place it is as long as the crowd is enjoying the music and the energy levels are through the roof!

Q. Any awesome DJ experiences you would like to share?

K&J – One gig comes to mind. We were playing in our local club on new years eve and the crowd was amazing. It didnt matter what track we dropped in everything worked perfectly. That was a good night.

Q. How did you guys meet and when did you realize you guys were a good match to make tracks together?

K&J – We started to DJ at the same club and I told Jespr that I’ve got some projects I wanted to show him. One day Jespr came to my house and we started working to make our first collab together. We agreed on most things and those we didnt agree on we found a way we both liked it and the track immediately sounded better. Thats how our first original (Monica) came to be. Its really important when you start working on a track together that you have your minds in same frequency level so to speak. Good balance of agreeing on thins and disagreeing is perfect.

Q. Can you tell us about any upcoming projects?

K&J – We have few pretty awesome projects upcoming. Some of those are originals so we are not only remixers. Also we have one hardstylish track coming which is huge. I dont really like to stick in one sub genre. That gets boring really quickly.

Q. Any songs or producers you are really enjoying lately that you can share with us?

K&J – We have been smashing the new Yolanda Be Cool & Dcup track Soul Makossa in our cars. Its insane that its not a big radio hit yet!

Q. Any place you have yet to visit that you would like to DJ at?

K&J – Well of course the cliches Ibiza & Vegas but really any place is good when the crowd is with you:)
Q. Tell us a bit about the songs you picked out for the mix
K&J – We started with one of our unreleased tracks which samples a part of Dom Andra by Kent. The whistling there really is an earworm so be ready for that. Then we mixed in a few of our most popular track and also few from our fellow producers we really liked. Of course Soul Makossa is also in there 🙂
